Where did all the K.U.S.H go?

K.U.S.H may not be the conventional name for anything remotely spiritual. However when this gospel group came into limelight, the meaning of their acronym, Kinetically Ushering Salvation into Hearts and Homes was justified by an alternative R&B sound and a solid gospel album.

KUSH was made up of a quad of Toyin Bello, Lara George, Dapo Torimiro and rapper Emem Inyang . The four of them met  at a musical fellowship at the University of Lagos and proceed to pursue a music career as a group after graduation. Backed by a recording deal with American based record label, DKG music the group gained popularity with the lead single Let us live together off their Experience album.

Sadly the myriad of factors surrounding their music like having to maintain professional careers, scheduling conflicts and the financial uncertainty of Nigerian music at the time, frustrated their music. The group reportedly grew apart till they broke up after just one album.

But where did they all go?
The answers are not too far fetched.

Rapper Emem  Inyang, started her own Creative Arts Management Company in Nigeria, ONE Integrated Management Co. She was the winner of the first British Council, International Young Music Entrepreneur (Nigeria) Award in 2006.

Our own Toyin Bello, is now known as TY Bello. She is an amazing photographer and gospel artist, with three critically acclaimed albums.

Lara George launched herself into the gospel music industry in 2007 with her debut single Ijoba Orun off her “Forever in my Heart” album.

Dapo Torimiro has amassed an impressive portfolio for himself since he exited the group. He has established himself in the American music industry as a multi-platinum winning songwriter, producer and instrumentalist. The former KUSH man has production credits with big wigs like Justin Beiber, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, John Legend and other international music icons.

Apparently KUSH was just a base for higher prosperity in their individual careers

Not bad, not bad at all.
