may-d-1Popular musician, Akinmayokun Awodumila popularly known as May D is a year older today, December 29, 2015.

May D became an household name, following his collaborations with to the famous twins P-Square, which led to him being signed unto Square Records in 2011/12.

He featured on P-Square’s Chop my money, dropped hit songs ‘Ile Ijo’ and the sexually influenced ‘Soundtrack’.

As we join in wishing Mr. May D a happy birthday, here are 5 other things about the artiste that you need to know.

  1. May D who hails from Ekiti State was born in Warri, Delta State to a family of seven with 5 boys and moved to Lagos at the age of 9 where he grew up and completed his schooling.
  2. May D who is also a decent dancer, aside from singing, holds a BSC in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
  3. May D was a member of the group ‘Just Us’, which he formed alongside a friend Ope from his secondary school days till his Unilag days but the group broke up following the relocation of his partner to the United Kingdom.
  4. May D’s debut album which was titled Chapter One was released on May 10th 2013.
  5. May D is the first recording artiste to be signed under the Square Records Label, a label he was with for four years before he was let off from the label sometime in August 2012 due to ‘irreconcilable differences’.
