Biography
Timi Dakolo Born on 20, January 1981 in Accra to a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother, Timi Dakolo was raised by his grandmother in Port Harcourt. He credits her with nurturing his singing talent and encouraging him to participate in the church choir. Dakolo became a founding member of the singing group Purple Love which became a regular in the Port Harcourt local music circuit.
In 2007, Dakolo won the inaugural Idols West Africa singing competition, the reality show that launched him to prominence. A singer-songwriter, Dakolo has gradually been dubbed Nigeria’s King of Soul. He released his debut album Beautiful noise, a collection of stirring ballads and soulful tunes in 2011 to widespread acclaim. His signature tune Great nation, released in 2012 has won the hearts of lovers around the country for its strong patriotic theme.
Dakolo is happily married to the love of his life Busola and they share 3 beautiful children together He is presently hard at work on his sophomore album Love and consequences with plans.
